Dr. David Stensrud has been a Professor of Meteorology in the Department of Meteorology and Atmospheric Science at The Pennsylvania State University since 2014.  He started his career at the NOAA/National Severe Storms Laboratory where he explored the benefits of short-range ensemble forecasting for severe weather prediction and was the inaugural manager of the NOAA Warn-on-Forecast program.  He currently studies the assimilation of dual-polarization radar and satellite observations into convection-allowing model ensembles.  Stensrud received his BA in Mathematics and Meteorology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and his MS and PhD in Meteorology from The Pennsylvania State University.  Dr. Stensrud is a member of the multi-university Consortium for Advanced Data Assimilation Research and Education (CADRE).
