Dr. Chengsi Liu is a Senior Research Scientist at the Center for Analysis and Prediction of Storms (CAPS), University of Oklahoma, and the team lead for CAPS’s data assimilation group. He is the principal developer of the ARPS hybrid ensemble 3D/4D variational data assimilation system and CAPS’s radar data assimilation capabilities within GSI-based and JEDI-based hybrid ensemble variational frameworks. Chengsi serves as the Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-PI for multiple NOAA-funded projects, including JTTI, HWT, and WoF, focusing on advancing data assimilation methods to improve severe weather forecasting. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, contributing significantly to numerical weather prediction and data assimilation.
