He is the principal developer of the ARPS hybrid ensemble 3D\/4D variational data assimilation system and CAPS&#8217;s radar data assimilation capabilities within GSI-based and JEDI-based hybrid ensemble variational frameworks. Chengsi serves as the Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-PI for multiple NOAA-funded projects, including JTTI, HWT, and WoF, focusing on advancing data assimilation methods to improve severe weather forecasting.
